How to use Google

Using Google can be extremely useful. However, just going to the search page and typing in Namibia, for example, might take you a while to find what you're looking for.

If you're looking through news websites, as an alternative to using the website's internal search engine, you can go to Google and search for yourcountry site:newssite url For example, if you were looking for news articles from CNN regarding Namibia, Google search for namibia site:www.cnn.com. The search results will display all pages from the CNN website that have the word Namibia in it, (hopefully) in the order of relevance. If your topic is atomic proliferation, you might consider searching for namibia atomic proliferation site:www.cnn.com.

Another tip is using quotes. Searching for "atomic proliferation policy" (with the quotation marks) on Google will return sites that have the exact phrase "atomic proliferation policy".

One more thing: using the word OR. Because things aren't always worded the same way everytime, you might want to search for atomice OR nuclear proliferation policy (which will return sites that have the words proliferation, policy, and either the word nuclear or atomic.

Putting all of this together, searching for namibia "atomic proliferation policy" OR "nuclear proliferation policy" site:cnn.com will return all pages on the CNN website that include the exact phrase "atomic proliferation policy" or "nuclear proliferation policy" along with the word Namibia. Simply search again, changing cnn.com to something like news.bbc.co.uk, and you can search another news site for the same thing. Don't waste time browsing through irrelevant headlines.
